Back to the Routine

After a few wonderful days of being out of my routine, it's back to it. Back to work. Back to workouts. Morning: run to the Y, lift, swim, run home. Saw Kelly and Ben Lyndgaard on the run home. It was great to see them. They're making the move to NY permanent now, selling their home here and looking for one out there. :-( Rochester will miss them. Evening: 12 repeats of the 10th St SW hill. Then All Comers'. I was going to do a post heavy on photos, but Blogger is not cooperating this evening. It will have to wait 'til tomorrow. I have 2 videos of Tom O'Leary doing the long jump this evening. They're a hoot. :-)

Anyway, here's the lowdown for tonight ...

Thursday Team R.E.D. at 6pm.. (5:30 if you want a head start.. someone has to tap the keg!) This should be a lot of fun... Randy lives at 1363 Woodland Dr SW in Rochester and he's ready to help us enjoy Fitness & Fun! I've also attached a youtube link, that many of you have seen before.. but this should give you a reminder as to 'what is retro running'!

This week's team RED's gathering will focus on past, "glory day" athletes. Let's make it a "retro" theme where you can come dressed in old running gear from past decades. ( eg. long socks, tennis shoes, headbands, wrist bands, cutoff shorts) We will have routes of 2,4, and 6 miles with a special 1/4 mile beer route for those interested in small "r" and capital "ED". And speaking of "ED", the grills will be fired up for burgers and brats. Additional munchies and treats with bottled soda pop, gatorade and water. Oh I almost forgot, keg beer on tap for those so inclined.

Well, I'm going to wear cutoffs (maybe), pink Converse high tops, tube socks, sweatbands and some kind of cotton T-shirt. Probably 3 sizes too small. :-) It'll be a hoot. Please join us!! Running is optional as always. So is dressing retro. Come as you are comfortable ...

Tomorrow evening I'm helping with Joey Keillor's running group at Kellogg Middle School. There will be four of us, including Jim Li. Bloggable, for sure!

Congrats to Paul Melby who won a 5K in his hometown this weekend. He ran a screamin' 19:50 during an event where the heat index was 105 at the start. Scorching hot!! There were a couple hundred runners and he said he just kept picking off these young high school runners and even picked off the "Norwegian Woo" that he's never been able to beat before!!

I'll be running in the AM. WITH my Garmin. It wouldn't power on today after charging. I had visions of having to drop a couple hundred bucks on a new one. Not what I wanted to do right now. So I Googled "Garmin 205 won't power on" and got a hit right away. All I needed to do was hold the Reset and Mode buttons in and then push the Power button. After I let go of all three, the unit should power on normally. It did. Gee ... that was intuitive ...

Well, it's quite late and my alarm will go off quite early. Sweet slumber ...
