Marvelous Monday!

Beau-ti-ful day today! 82 and sunny, no wind, not humid. I'm off work today and tomorrow and am enjoying the hance to get caught up on various little projects in and around the house. Spent the morning working outside. Got the mowing and trimming done, some more branches trimmed off the birch tree, everything watered, weeds sprayed. For a workout this morning, I ran down to the Y (2.0 miles) and lifted, then ran home and added another mile. An off day of sorts. :-) Running is still going well. I'll need to start doing long runs soon. My extra mile today was .5 mile out and back. The turnaround point is a traffic island on Fox Hill. It's planted with Stella D'Oro day lillies and was so weedy. Today I decided to stop and pull the weeds. Who should drive by, but Marie Boyd, runner extraordinaire. Caught--red handed! She said it was nice of me to do that, actually. :-)

Registration for the TC10 opened today and is open through the 15th. It's a lottery. I'm hoping I win the lottery!!

The July issue of RTC News has been assembled and is ready for the bulk mail facility. Thank you to Ron Giles, Greg Hagen, Laura Lenz and Larry Pederson for helping to put it together.

We finished in exactly one hour. Chewy Chocolate Cookies were their reward.

We still need volunteers for the Lace-Up Against Breast Cancer fundraising event on Saturday (July 11) at Caribou Coffee downtown (across from the Charlton building). The store is open 6 AM to 10 PM. We need people to staff an information table. There will be face tatoos, balloon animals, "Bou" will be in costume and 20% of sales go to our event. If you can help out, please contact Kristin. Thank you in advance!

Rochester Half update (we met this evening): We also need LOTS of volunteers to make the Rochester Half Marathon & 5K a reality on August 22. 70 to be specific. Packet stuffin, registration/packet pick-up, finish line, course marshals, water stops, etc. You know the drill, runners. If you can help out, please contact Jean. And of course, we need runners too. More info here. I'm handling registrations. :-0 Technical T's this year. They're sized generously, BTW. Thank you to Dave Morrill for certifying the course!

For those who regularly run the trail around Soldier's Field, this info from Denny Stotz at Park & Rec might be of interest: There is an gas line install project that will be affecting the trail around Soldier's Field golf course. The project will basically affect the trail from Memorial Parkway on the west end to 6 Street SW on the north end from July 6 to August 17.

Well, I think that's all I have of interest today. My quote for the day is from a little sign I saw at a cute little store in Stewartville on Saturday:

"Live simply. Laugh often. Love deeply."

Cheers.
