Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo for those celebrating today!

Calling all volunteers! The 39th Annual All Comers' Track Meets start on Tuesday, June 9 and continue for 6 weeks. And it takes volunteers to make them happen. And they are FUN!!! We need ribbon hander-outers and long jump pit workers. The meets start at 6 PM and volunteers need to check in at 5:45 PM. If you can help out any of these Tuesday evenings, please email Laura Lenz. You'll have a blast.

Red Cross Fund Raiser: Paul Scanlon will again be participating this year in the Red Cross Heroes campaign and hase what he hopes will be another interesting challenge. He is planning a bicycling trip in Alaska, riding to the Arctic Circle. He expects to provide an interesting travelogue for his contributors in a few weeks. The economy is tough for many right now, but even worse for those who are dealing with hardships. Please consider making a contribution to the American Red Cross through the Heroes Campaign. Please note that electronic contributions are possible this year at: http://www.firstgiving.com/paulscanlon1, or you can call him (507-951-3450) and debate the likelihood of him surviving an encounter with a polar bear. (Paul has undertaken many and varied athletic pursuits in recent years raising runds for the Red Cross. Each year has been something different. Last year it was a 26-mile kayak followed by a 100-mile bike ride. RKS)

Registration is open for the 2nd annual Rails to Trails marathon and half marathon taking place Sunday, November 1. I ran the half last year and will likely run one of the two races again this year.
