Happy Monday

Is this a cute kid or what? It's my nephew, Andrew, or A.J. He was Tigger for Halloween.

Photos from the Bear Creek 5 on Saturday. Everything went very well! Chris O'Brien did a bang up job as race director, and her first year at that. The weather was wonderful.

Here are my Rails to Trails photos:

Congratulations to Kara Goucher, who went to high school in Duluth, and who earned a third place finish at the New York City marathon yesterday, her marathon debut. She ran a 2:25:53, the fastest debut marathon by an American woman.

Here's a link to the November Running Room eMagazine. Inside, lots of information, a 20% off coupon good all month on shoes and clothing (never too early to start your Christmas shopping), and my recipe for chocolate chip pumpkin bread.

Spotted out and about in their RTC wear: Nina Bren at Rails to Trails ...

and Fred Woolman at Torrance Beach in Southern California. If you have a photo to share, either here and/or the RTC Newsletter, please share it with me . Tusen takk (thousand thanks).

From Running Times (magazine): My name is Claudia Piepenburg. I'm a free-lance writer doing research on an article I'm writing for an early 2009 issue of Running Times about how runners with diabetes handle the disease. I'm interested in talking with runners who race frequently (6 or more times a year) and control their disease either with diet and/or medication. Please respond to the email address below, and I will contact you via phone. Thanks,Claudia Piepenburg prunners@charter.net 805-474-1045

Some links from Mike Schmitt: A Passion for Food and Running (what a spectacular kitchen!) and 80-year old woman defends her title at NYC marathon. She grew up in Waconia, MN.

That's it for now! Gotta get busy. Thought for the day: "Spread love everywhere you go...let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier." --Mother Teresa
